On June 24, Scott and Claire Rumpsa from the Aqua Clara Foundation (Holland, Michigan) to help train a team of Kager villagers in the construction of home-based water purifiers. We are thankful for ministry partners like Aqua Clara (www.aquaclara.org) that are so good at what they do — the fact that they would come to Kager at our invitation is answered prayer.
Here is Scott’s report from their three days in the village:
“The training session Kager went well — here are some details:
We arrived in Kager on Tuesday evening (June 24)
- Stayed in the home of the Bishop of the End Times Revival Church – David Kayando’s father.
- The training session itself took place from 9-5:30 on Wednesday, June 24.
- Presented in the church to 25 attendees beginning shortly after 9.
- Sieved sand and gravel until lunch time – sorted a large quantity.
- After lunch we split into 9 teams of 2 or 3 individuals.
- Those teams each constructed two purifiers – for 18 total as agreed prior to the training session.
- The example purifier was filled at the Bishop’s home (David’s father/mother) upon David’s recommendation, as it was near the construction site.
- The water began flowing clear very quickly after the process was begun – our fastest clearing yet. The group was informed that the waiting period of 20 days should still be followed to allow for full development of the biological layer.
- After the installation, the purifier was moved inside of the kitchen by several men for permanent use.
- The group then moved back inside the church for a more thorough explanation of the use of the purifier.
